Service Entrance Cable (SER/SEU) - Aluminum
Service entrance cables bring power from electrical companies to residential buildings and homes. Both SER and SEU cables are 600 volts and suitable for use in dry or moist conditions. The anatomy between the two cables differ which determines how they should be used in your electrical project. SEU cables have a neutral conductor but no ground conductor. SER cables have both.

SER Cable
SER is a type SE (service entrance), Style R (reinforcement tape) cable, used as an above ground service entrance cable, a panel feeder and in branch circuits. It is most often used to deliver power from the service drop down to the meter base, and from the meter base to the distribution panel board.
SEU Cable
SEU is a type SE (service entrance), Unarmored (U) cable. Aluminum SEU cable is primarily used as panel feeder in multiple unit dwellings and for branch circuits.

Applications:
-SER cable is used as an above ground service entrance cable, a panel feeder and in branch circuits. The cable is rated at 600 volts and 90°C for use in wet and dry locations. SER cables are LEAD FREE and RoHS compliant.
-SEU cable is primarily used as panel feeder in multiple unit dwellings and for branch circuits. Maximum operating temperature is not to exceed 90°C in wet locations. Voltage rating is 600 volts.
Construction:
Conductor - Compact stranded AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B801 or B836. Features solid AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B800.
Insulation - Color coded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).
Assembly - Insulated conductors are cabled with the bare ground wire. A flame retardant fiberglass reinforced binder tape assembles the core in a circular configuration.
Jacket - Sunlight resistant, LEAD FREE, flame retardant, gray polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material.
