246.9 MCM Alliance AAAC Bare Aluminum 

Application:

This wire is suitable for use in spans on wood poles, transmission towers, and other structures where AAC conductors do not provide the required strength and ACSR conductors are not required or suitable.  Applications range from extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines to sub-service spans at distribution or utilization voltages on private premises.

Applicable Standards:
- ASTM B-398:  Aluminum Alloy 6201-T81 aluminum alloy conductors
- ASTM B-399:  Concentric Lay stranded 6201-T81 aluminum alloy conductors

Construction:
Bare aluminum alloy conductors made of 6201 Aluminum alloy are wrapped helically around a central wire.
